Ajmal Tincowree, Business consultant & Director (The Food Factory) : « The Food Factory uses the best and the very best only! »

The Food Factory proposes a unique fast-food concept. According to its Business consultant and Director, Ajmal Tincowree, The Food Factory has the mission to bring people around large communal tables, sharing quality foods, and helping them to socialize.

How did the Food Factory concept come about?

We had the idea after the end of the second lockdown. Fast foods reopened and one night, we all three went out to eat some fast food in the suburbs of Port Louis. We were quite disappointed to realize how low the fast-food scene was in Mauritius. Excessive use of MSG, fat, mayonnaise and extremely unhealthy products. Good healthy fast food was inexistent and quality food was out of reach of most people. We then and there took the decision to do something about this and create The Food Factory

What is the reason behind this name?

Because we don’t limit ourselves. We are builders. We built The Food Factory with our own hands. Literally! We want to have Mauritius taste all the variety of flavors of different countries and portions so generous that you don’t go home hungry. Food so healthy you sleep with a smile without heartburn or feeling sick. Food you could eat on the way or out of the gym with an amazing taste.

What sets you apart from other restaurants?

We are not a restaurant. We are a fast-food and The Food Factory is a thing on its own. We give people a wonderful atmosphere that most prized restaurant fails to. We bring people together on big, large communal tables; make friends, talk and socialize. Staffs are so friendly you could share your meal with them, even valets to help you park during weekends, and prices that compete with most fast foods and not even comparable to restaurants.

Furthermore, we use the best and the very best only in terms of ingredients that are available on the market today. The best in equipment, professional and experienced chefs. Yet we can dish our amazing food and incredibly low prices.

Do you think that with Covid-19, the eating habits of Mauritians have changed?

Naturally, people have fewer funds. We are in a crisis; sacrifices are being made. This touched us to see how many people are struggling in silence, giving up completely on leisure time and going out just to reduce costs. The Food Factory has been especially motivated to bring this back and give people the opportunity to spend more time with their loved ones and family around a nice meal in a marvelous set up.

How has The Food Factory been doing since its launch?

Well, it has been a tremendous success. Better than we anticipated! Our team of professionals is here to ensure quality and making sure that they give the best of themselves.

Are you thinking of opening another branch of The Food Factory?

We have our vision and goals set. We shall communicate in due course.

What are your upcoming projects?

The Food Factory Grand Bay will continue to grow over the course of this year. We want to keep the surprise as we built this vision brick by brick.
